DLT Update - Template Id Scrubbing Go Live on 1st April 2021

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has announced that the SMS regulations for sending Commercial Messages will be mandatory from April 1, 2021, in India.Companies those who do not obey the new SMS rules and regulations of TRAI won’t send messages to their Customers.

To reduce spam and fraud messages

Those companies do not obey the rules and regulations of the Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR), which instructs the senders of commercial Bulk SMS to register their unique SMS header ID, content, and user consent on a DLT platform developed by telecom operators. By following these you can reduce the no spam and fraudulent messages.

After analyzing the messages which are delayed, TRAInotified that the blame can only be attributed to lack of due care and diligence by Principal Entities, Telemarketers and Aggregators.

It has been decided that from 1st April 2021, any message failing in the scrubbing process due to noncompliance of regulatory requirements will be rejected,” said TRAI in its notification.

Please note that the regulatory process of scrubbing the content template go live on 1st April, 2021. Post this implementation, only DLT approved message content will be allowed and any message being sent with an unapproved message template will fail.

PE’s/TM are required to upload all their content templates to the operator DLT portal.

In accordance with that, all the senders of commercial communication are required to follow a mandatory registration process.

Please find below two action’s for your reference

·      All the PEs are informed to kindly register their Content template with the TSP before 31st March 2021.

·      1st April 2021 is the date for content template scrubbing.

Please login into your DLT accounts and ensures all your Sender ID / Header /SMS Template etc. Should be registered and approved under your Principal Entity, If Not Please add immediately over the DLT and inform us as well.
